The largest Game of Thrones fan site, Watchers on the Wall, will host the first worldwide Game of Thrones fan convention next year in Nashville, Tennessee. A Con of Ice and Fire will celebrate the highly-rated HBO show and George R.R. Martin’s book series.
Watchers on the Wall will collaborate with the GoT fan podcast Game of Owns and the Mischief Management to present the three-day event that will feature panels, performances, workshops, keynotes, autograph and photo opportunities, concerts and meet-and-greets. Fans can also shop at the Ice and Fire Marketplace where they will find one of the largest selections of Game of Thrones merchandise and memorabilia from vendors and exhibitors from around the world.
A Con of Ice and Fire will take place in Nashville from June 30 to July 2, 2017. A specific location for the convention has not been announced. Fans interested in A Con of Ice and Fire can visit the event’s website and subscribe for news and updates.
Zack Luye, co-director of Watchers on the Wall and Game of Owns, said in a press release:
This will be a celebration of all George R.R. Martin has given to the world and what HBO and we the people have created because of it. The event will be led by die-hard fans of the series and no detail will go unnoticed; the time is right to celebrate with the people who love Game of Thrones most.
Mischief Management is behind other major fan conventions including BroadwayCon, Geeky Con and Leaky Con, the largest and most recognized Harry Potter fan convention.
Game of Thrones fans traveled to Virginia earlier this year for the fourth annual Ice and Fire Con held at Mountain Lake Lodge in Pembroke. The convention was founded in 2012 by three GoT fans who lamented the lack of programming for the TV show and book series at more mainstream conventions, according to the convention’s website.
