Klay Thompson, on the brink of winning a second straight NBA title with the Golden State Warriors, is far from the only athlete in his family.

Here’s everything you need to know about those who surround the 26-year-old sharpshooter:

Probably one of the few individuals to make the transition from the Bahamas, where he was born, to Minnesota, where he attended college, Mychal Thompson has enjoyed a long and successful basketball career.

After a standout four-year career with the Golden Gophers, where he would eventually have his number retired, Thompson was drafted No. 1 overall by the Portland Trail Blazers in 1978.

Although he never quite lived up to that hype, especially when you consider the fact Hall of Famer Larry Bird was drafted sixth that year, Thompson developed into a solid role player. In 13 NBA seasons, he averaged 13.7 points, 7.4 rebounds and 1.1 blocks in 29.7 minutes per game.

After seven seasons with the Blazers and a half-season with the San Antonio Spurs, Thompson was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers, where he would join fellow No. 1 picks Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Magic Johnson and James Worthy. Backing up Abdul-Jabbar, Thompson proved to be a valuable piece to the Showtime Lakers, helping them to consecutive titles in 1987 and 1988.

When Klay captured a championship with the Warriors 17 years later, it put he and Mychal in rarefied air as one of only four father-son tandems to have each won an NBA title.

The others on that list: Matt Goukas Sr. and Jr., Rick and Brent Barry, and Bill and Luke Walton.

He has quickly turned into a legitimate force for the Dodgers in 2016, hitting .277/.358/.546 with 10 home runs, 23 RBI and four stolen bases. He has played all three outfield positions, most recently filling in in right for the injured Yasiel Puig.
