USA Swimming Olympic Trials Results: Day 5

Another eight spots on the 2016 USA swimming team are up for grabs on Thursday night.

The three finals begin at 8 p.m. ET. They’ll be broadcast on NBC at 8 p.m. local time and can be watched live online starting at 8 p.m. ET. We’ll have the results for you right here once they’re official.

Here’s a look at who’s up for Olympic spots tonight:

Men’s 200m Breast

Kevin Cordes, who has already qualified for Rio in the 100m breaststroke, is considered the favorite here. The 2015 World Championships silver medalist recorded the fastest time in the semifinals by 0.6 seconds and owns the US Open record (fastest time recorded within the United States).

He’ll be chased by Josh Prenot, Will Licon, Cody Miller and Nic Fink.

Women’s 200m Fly

Cammile Adams recorded the fastest time in the semis, followed by Hali Flickinger, Cassidy Bayer and Kelsi Worrell. Adams took home silver in the 2015 World Championships, while Katie McLaughlin, who had only the sixth-best time in the semis, was the next best finisher (sixth) at Worlds.

No American has medaled at the Olympics in this event since Misty Hyman in 2000.

Men’s 100m Free

Easily one of the most exciting events in swimming, the 100m freestyle will be headlined by Nathan Adrian, who won gold in this event at the London Games. The 27-year-old fell to seventh at last year’s World Championships, but in recording the fastest time in the semis, he beat his Worlds mark by 0.4 seconds.

Challenging Adrian for the four spots (first two qualify for the individual event, second two round out the relay team) will be Ryan Held, Caeleb Dressel, Jimmy Feigen, Anthony Ervin and William Copeland.
